colorado pre-marital coaching

where do sessions take place?

We can meet online via Google Meet or in person at our cozy movement studio and office space if you live in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area!

Whats the difference between counseling and coaching?

Counseling is for a diagnosable medical/clinical condition such as mental illness, while coaching is for anything that does not require medical/clinical attention. If you’re not sure whether counseling or coaching is right for you, I can help determine the best fit during our initial consultation call. If you know counseling would be a better fit, check out my therapy website: www.rachaelrosnertherapy.com

what is pre-marital coaching?

Pre-marital coaching allows couples to explore their relationship in a deeper way and learn important relationship skills for communication, conflict, and developing intimacy. Addressing topics openly such as family planning, finances, life goals and dreams, sex and intimacy, roles, conflict, parenting, and more allows you to reduce conflict in the early years of marriage. These topics are best discussed in the safe and open environment of coaching. This way, your coach can support you in opening up further and fielding the conversation in a skillful way. Rather than avoid the conversation altogether, step into support and set your marriage up for success.

What are the benefits of pre-marital coaching?

Pre-marital coaching provides couples with many benefits. You’ll gain:

  • A deeper understanding of yourself in relationships

  • A deeper understanding of your partner and what they bring to the relationship

  • Identify your strengths as a couple

  • Know your areas for growth and what you can work on to be the best partner you can be

  • Peace of mind knowing that you both have a framework for navigating hard times and conflict

  • A deeper connection, friendship, and appreciation for one another

  • Deeper physical intimacy and clarity of needs, desires, and boundaries

  • Having more fun and a strong friendship throughout your marriage

How does pre-marital coaching work?

We start with a complimentary consultation in which we can get to know one another and check that we’ll be a good fit to work together. From there, you’ll enroll in a 3-month program that includes 9 coaching sessions as well as an introductory assessment session and a closure session (11 total). Your initial assessment will help guide the way and determine which topics we will focus on during your pre-marital coaching sessions. In coaching sessions, I will support you in exploring important topics and learning and applying new skills to those conversations. The main goal is to provide a safe space for you to talk about your past, present and future relationship together.

Why is pre-marital coaching important?

Pre-marital coaching is a crucial decision in the making of your marriage. Did you know that 22% of marriages end within the first five years? That is 1 in 5! Think about 4 other couples you know and imagine that in 5 years, one of you will be divorced. If you ask me, I believe that these marriages fail mostly due to the fact that no one teaches us how to navigate the tough stuff in marriage. Most couples I talk to say that they don’t have a good role-model of marriage in their lives and many don’t know what a “healthy” relationship looks like. Let’s set you up for success in these early years of marriage.

who is a good fit for pre-marital coaching?

Pre-marital coaching is a good fit for any couple who are dating or engaged and thinking about marriage. I recommend pre-marital counseling if you are experiencing more acute mental health symptoms, domestic violence, or addiction challenges in your marriage. If you’re just looking for a space to talk about the topics of marriage and learn skills for communication and connection, then coaching is a great fit for you!
